The Institute of Health and Aging

Institute of Health and Aging is committed to the health monitoring and anti-aging applied scientific research and supporting the application and development of health and aging monitoring based on the individual genome on the basis of big data (gene + image + wearable + psychology) of the health, by surrounding mitochondria, immune, gene-environment interaction and others as the breakthrough.

It has six laboratories, which are respectively immune and health laboratory, immunogenetics laboratory, immune single cell application laboratory, aging research laboratory, human population laboratory, and genome application project laboratory.

The immune and health laboratory captures the receptor and antibody gene (TCR/BCR) of lymphocyte and explores the characteristics of normal persons and diseases in the immune system mainly by surrounding the immune system of individuals based on the high throughput sequencing technology of immunization group. It carries out the differential analysis of immune system through the normal group and disease group (autoimmune disease, infection, vaccine, tumor, blood disease and others) of a lot of samples, carries out the analysis of microenvironment or cell atlas on the tumor and other diseases, and monitors the recovery state before treatment of disease and after treatment (organ transplantation).

The aging research laboratory studies mainly by surrounding the aging and anti-aging mechanism, and meanwhile, develops the health and aging evaluation mode, as well as the study on the aged-related diseases. The laboratory applies multi-omics method to the study of big alignment of big data, develops the new algorithm with the system biology, and verifies the new discovery through the cell and model animal. The main research field includes the health multi-omics, system biology, aging and anti-aging mechanism study and health aging. Currently, the ongoing project includes the relevant study on health and longevity queue, health and aging evaluation, mitochondria and aging, neurodegenerative disease, exosome marker of liver cancer and oral cancer and others.

The human population research laboratory is based on the new generation sequencing resource with high throughput of Shenzhen Huada Gene Research Institute, faces the national demand and frontier world technology of strategic biological resources of human genome, and arranges the study on genetic mechanism of diversity, origin and evolution and complex disease of genetic resources of human population. The project that the laboratory mainly participates in and leads includes the international 1000 genomes project, England UK10K research project, research project of ethnic minorities of China, DNA study of paleontology, and others. The laboratory publishes many research papers on the international top journals, such as Nature, Science, Genome Biology and Gigascience. Now, the human population research laboratory has completed the establishment of ancient DNA laboratory, and will gradually develop the study of China on ancient DNA.

The genome application project laboratory is committed to the applied research and development of applied genomics to improve the human life. It focuses on the analysis, interpretation and digging of high-throughput individual genome data, application of artificial intelligence technology, and exploration and development of consumer-oriented gene detection products.

Department of Immunogenetics. We are mainly working on trying to understand the molecular basis of a variety of primary immunodeficiency diseases. Research covers a broad range of PIDs, including IgA deficiency, severe combined immunodeficiency, Hyper IgM, Agammaglobulinemia and common variable immunodeficiency.

The immune single cell application laboratory mainly analyzes single cell transcriptome and immune library of tumor and immune cell in blood and tumor microenvironment. At present, the research directions include single cell expression profile of regulatory T cells, single cell study of blood immunity, tumor tissue and its infiltrating immune cell project.
